For the month of November Ms. Jocquelyn Hill is SALT Newspaper’s Ambitious Woman of the month. The College Park, GA native earned her pharmacy degree at Ohio Northern University and has 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical field. Starting her career as an intern in Berkley California, she later interned here in Atlanta before spending 3 years in Nashville, TN. She now holds the position of Head Pharmacist at Walgreens in Lake City, GA.

From Lecture Hall to Recording Studio: The Life of Key Wane

“Stay focused and make time for what’s important and most of all keep faith and pray towards your goal. Also speak it into existence” is upcoming producer and rapper, Key Wane’s, advice to college students striving to achieve their goals while maintaining their academics.
Born in Detroit, Mich., Dwane M. Weir II began playing the piano at 12-years-old. It was a DVD featuring
producers Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo making beats that intrigued him into the world of music. “I thought that was the coolest thing ever,” he explains. After watching the video, Key Wane and his mother purchased music equipment as he began taking piano lessons at 14 to help master his craft.

An anonymous individual stated, “If you wanna hide something from black people, put it in a book”. Is this true? Has it really gotten to the point where reading is no longer fundamental? Has it ever been for blacks? We’re aware that many of our young people, especially males, continue to struggle in the arena of education. If we’re aware of this continuous decline, why are the statistics relevant? The world is a totem pole. We have the resources, the power, and the opportunity. Why are we still at the bottom? Spill it.

Too many people our age are ignorant to the political and social factors that affect us as citizens of this global economy.
